The sun might be shining emphatically outside, but I’ve had one of those really low days, the kind where you just want to close your eyes and sink underneath a cold pillow. Instead I found welcome distraction in the haunting atmospheres of Georgian, a Manchester based band creating a seductively cinematic sound.

There’s an unsettling beauty found within debut single, Big Lips in Leather. Written by Georgia McKiernan & Arno Stols, it’s hard not to appreciate the scope of its ambition, with subtle nods to the golden age of 60s pop and evocative americana, full of yearning and dusky melancholia. McKernan’s deceptively languid vocals defy the needling tension to release a dream laden euphoria.
